Succesful Pre-Season Test in Valencia

Australia - Here we come

Succesful Pre-Season Test in Valencia

I honestly couldnt wait for this season to start. Some things have changed compared to last year, my teammate is now Alex Cooper, and Jamez Shepherd is back in the team. Although this might sound like a lot changed, the team itself is still very close together and the working mentality and atmosphere is just as good as it was all previous season long. Of course our aims for 2013 cannot be less than repeating what we achieved in 2012, maybe perform even better. I personally had some bad races last season, and I think I need to be even more consisten and comptetitive this year, to achieve that. But I like to be challenged and 2013 will most certainly be a great challenge for all of us.

Today has finally arrived, the official start of our 2013 campaign. I was highly anticipating the first official outing with our new car, already set up with the latest updates, that just arrived late this night. Our team did a fantastic job, working all night, so we were able to test the latest version of our car. Today’s primary aim was to learn more about the tires, especially the primes, of course including all the other checks you got do to, when testing your new companion for the first time.
The test went very well, we got through our program fast and without any issues. Our testdriver Jamez suffered a small electrical problem on lap 34 this morning, but these things can happend and it is no reason to start worrying, as it got fixed very fast and he was able to finish the rest of his desired program without any further problems. My this years teammate Alex has his run planned for later this day and I am eager to see how he thinks of our MM-03. I’m positive he will get through as well as I did and we can focus on further improvements then.
Nevertheless the car felt great already, which is a good start and is promising for the rest of the pre-season tests, aswell as the Superleague season!

best regards,
Lukas

Round 02 - China - Press Conference

PERFECT START TO THE SEASON

Q. Lukas, starting with you: 2 races in Superleague, 2 pole positions, 2 fastest laps and 2 wins. It's looking pretty easy for you so far, isn't it?

LEYeah - it's looking really easy, but I think our team has really put up a great job in the winter testing, and that why we are so much up there.

Q. Obviously, again you showed excellent pace in the Midnight Motorsport car, it seems that the developments you guys have made have been excellent. Do you think this is a sign of things to come this season? Do you reckon that you guys can maintain this pace throughout the season?

LE. Well we hope so, definitely! But I think the others will close up because they definitely want to. We're not stopping but they won't stop developing either so I think in the end it should get closer.

Q. Just a quick comment on your team-mate Nick. He was a lot closer this time, obviously having a better race. How do you rate his pace compared to yours during the race today?

LE. Well I'm quite happy for Nick because in Australia his race wasn't that good. He couldn't show his pace and this time around he really was up there, always staying close to me. But it's quite OK to have your team-mate so close rather than any other teams, and I'm really happy for him. He's put a lot of effort into getting closer and he showed it today.

Q. We saw you at the end of your last stop you had a bit of a mistake on your out lap. Could you tell us a bit more about that?

LE. Yeah, I was just running a bit wide, touched the grass and that was it, basically. A slight loss of concentration maybe. Holding up the concentration is really tough and it's, let's say, quite easy at the moment so - a bit of a mistake but there's always some room for improvement.

Q. Final though from you, Lukas - the season now goes off to Abu Dhabi for the next race. Looking ahead, how do you see the field closing up, your chances for Midnight and also how much development do you reckon the other teams will bring in order to try and close the gap?

LE. I think development-wise, the next race is a huge update for some teams, so we may see a close field. We won't stop development and I think we are still running quite good. I hope to continue like that, but it won't be easy because we'll have to push every race and every lap. Therefore, I just will give my best in the next round and hope for a good finish.
